Sydney Olsen
BASI Pilates
Sydney grew up in Minnesota and came to Texas to swim for Texas Christian University while completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she specializes in trauma and intensive care and currently works in the ICU at Baylor Scott and White. Sydney also has a passion for photography and for the last 10 years has pursued this hobby in her free time. She especially loves the study and capture of the small details all around us which positions her as an incredible instructor. She has a strong desire to care for people and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Sydney was introduced to Pilates after suffering a severe back injury at a young age. After going through aggressive physical therapy that resulted in limited improvement, she had to resort to surgery. Always an athlete and avid fitness enthusiast, Sydney found herself unable to compete in things like competitive swimming or high impact workouts. Her surgeon recommended Pilates as a way to stay active, build the core strength needed to support her spine, and improve stability to avoid future injuries. Sydney’s journey through her back injury and subsequent surgery positions her especially well to understand what rehabbing clients are going through. Coupled with her anatomy knowledge as a nurse and love of Pilates, Sydney’s multi-faceted approach helps our clients build strength, flexibility and stability. |
