Summer Ross
BASI Pilates Summer was brought up in a Volleyball obsessed family, and naturally became addicted to volleyball and all things fitness from the time she could hold a ball. With an older brother who suffered back and knee injuries from volleyball, Summer was aware from an early age that she needed to train functionally to reach her goals of playing high level volleyball. She was always curious about ways to identify and improve the imbalances in her body. Finding Pilates was a game changer. Summer played indoor volleyball at the University of Washington and sand volleyball for Pepperdine University in 2012. After winning the inaugural AVCA sand championship for Pepperdine, it was her dream to pursue beach volleyball full time as a career. She enjoyed 8 years traveling around the world as a professional beach volleyball player. Representing team USA on the FIVB international tour while also competing on the AVP domestic tour. In 2013 Summer’s favorite physical therapist showed her Pilates as a way to overcome back and shoulder injuries. Adding pilates to her cross training program was an excellent way to rehab her shoulder from the countless swings at the volleyball and to build stabilization and core strength to avoid further injury. Summer is excited to share her passion for movement and has completed the BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training program. Summer is also an ACE certified personal trainer. She received her Bachelor’s in Business Management from Park University, and, in her free time, enjoys spending time with her Boston Terrier, Cheddar. |
