From Teens to 70s: What Pilates Looks Like at Every Age

Pilates isn’t just a workout—it’s a movement philosophy that grows with you.
At The Pilates Center in Fort Worth, we work with teens building strength and confidence, adults managing busy lives and chronic tension, and older clients focused on longevity, mobility, and balance. We believe that movement should support you through every season of life—and Pilates does just that.
And here’s how!

Teens & Young Adults:

Build Strength, Posture & Confidence
The teen years are a time of rapid growth, not just physically but mentally. Pilates helps young people:
  • Develop healthy postural habits (especially helpful during phone/laptop use and heavy backpack years)
  • Improve core strength to support sports performance
  • Learn body awareness, coordination, and breath control
  • Build confidence and self-esteem in a non-competitive environment

We often work with Fort Worth teens who are dancers, athletes, or simply need more movement in their week. And because Pilates is gentle yet challenging, it helps them avoid injuries during this critical stage of development.

Adults in Their 30s to 50s:

Reclaim Control and Counter Stress
These are often the “rush hour” years—career, caregiving, commuting. All of that takes a toll on your spine, joints, and nervous system.
Many of our Fort Worth clients in this phase come in with:
  • Back pain from sitting at a desk all day
  • Shoulder or hip tension from commuting or parenting
  • A sense of disconnect from their bodies
  • A need to reset their posture, breath, and strength

Pilates meets you where you are. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to be strong. You just need to show up—and we’ll take it from there. And with consistent practice, you’ll build the kind of strength that supports your day, not drains it.

Active Older Adults & Seniors:

Move Safely, Age Gracefully
Pilates was originally developed as a rehabilitative movement method—and it continues to be one of the safest and most effective ways for older adults to stay strong, mobile, and independent.
For our Fort Worth clients in their 60s, 70s, and beyond, we focus on:
  • Balance and fall prevention
  • Joint-friendly mobility work
  • Breath training for lung health and calm
  • Core strength to support the spine and pelvic floor

We often hear, “I wish I started this earlier!” But here’s the truth: there’s no such thing as too late. Your body wants to move. And Pilates helps it do so with confidence and care.

A Studio That Grows With You

Whether you’re 15 or 75, your session at The Pilates Center is tailored to you. We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we ask:
  • What does your body need right now?
  • What are your goals?
  • How can we help you feel stronger, more supported, and more at ease in your body?

With private, duet, and small group options available, we help you choose the format that feels right for your stage of life. And in a city like Fort Worth—where life can feel fast and full—it’s powerful to have a space that meets you with clarity, calm, and strength.

Let’s Start Where You Are
Whether you’re encouraging your teen to build strength, rediscovering your own body in your 40s, or looking for joint-friendly movement in your 70s, we’d love to welcome you in.

I'm BASI Faculty and Certified Pilates Instructor by day, somewhat competent mom by night. I am married to the love of my life and somewhat charismatic Rustin Gradke. I have 4 kids that are wonderful sometimes but mostly they just eat a lot. I'm a lover of God and movement and the occasional bowl of queso.
